How to Discuss Compensation in the Changed World of Real Estate. As a real estate agent, having essential conversation with home buyers and sellers is crucial for smooth transactions. Discussing compensation, including how you’re paid, your services, and negotiating terms, is especially important. Industry practice changes make it vital to stay informed about their impact on daily business. Knowing what to say and what to avoid in these discussions is key. Approach these talks with transparency, professionalism, and market knowledge to build strong relationships and trust. MIAMI REALTORS is here by your side to assist you in this transition and understanding of these practice changes established from the settlement of the National Association of REALTORS. Throughout this course, feel free to ask questions and engage in learning to ensure you leave class with a thorough understanding of the conversations around compensation. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: • Identify the different prohibitions of the Sherman Antitrust laws. • Understand why antitrust laws are so important and how to stay in compliance. • Identify different compensation options along with understanding an overview of each option. • Understand disclosure requirements for compensation when working with a buyer in a written buyer’s representative agreement. • Understand what options the buyer has if compensation offered from an outside source doesn’t satisfy the agreed amount. • Understand how to handle compensation when a higher amount or bonus is offered when than what’s agreed upon with the buyer. • Understand how to have conversations with sellers regarding the buyer’s options and give them choices in their compensation offerings. • Understand how to verify the compensation paid in writing from various sources.
